Our Story

We have always had a flair for the creative and from a very young age have enjoyed making things

Our desire to be creative and make things has stayed with us, and even after pursuing different careers, we continued to make and mend.  For over 20 years, we have both upcycled, recycled and reclaimed and we have sanded and painted countless pieces of furniture. We always perceived it as a hobby and never as something we could make a living out of – until now.

Over the past two years, we have both been on our own personal journeys and have now reached a point where family, happiness and contentment are our most important values.  We are happiest when we are making and painting, and seeing the finished results and the pleasure that this brings people, has made us realise that this is what we want to do – not just as a hobby.

We love French brocantes and English country decor and the pieces that we create are inspired by these styles.  We hate to see waste and use reclaimed wood to create all our pieces.  We have used Annie Sloan chalk paint for many years, when upcycling pieces of furniture, so it was the natural choice to finish our pieces.

The name ‘Bumbles Furnishing’ was easy.  Claire has a particular fascination with bumble bees and we both adore our gardens.  Did you know that the shape of a bumble is not ergonomically made for flying but because they don’t know that they fly anyway! They symbolise that, if you believe, you can accomplish the impossible!

And, in case you’re wondering, we’re sisters.

Welcome to Bumbles Furnishings.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
